About AkageraNationalPark.com

An independent guide to Akagera National Park, Rwanda — written for travellers, funded by affiliate commissions, and honest about both.

AkageraNationalPark.com is an independent travel guide dedicated to one place: Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda. We are not the park authority, a tour operator or a booking platform. We are a small editorial team that researches, writes and maintains the most useful English-language resource we can for people planning a trip here.

The park deserves it. Akagera is one of Africa’s great conservation comeback stories and one of the most accessible Big Five destinations on the continent, and yet most of what is written about it online is thin, out of date or plainly copied from somewhere else.

What we do

  • Maintain detailed, plain-English guides to every part of the park and every way of visiting it.
  • Check safari listings against live GetYourGuide products, including prices, inclusions and verified review scores.
  • Publish honest rankings that say when a tour is poor value or when an itinerary will not deliver what it implies.
  • Keep practical information — fees, timings, gates, seasons — as current as we can, and tell you where to verify it officially.
  • Publish in nine languages so that travellers from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas can plan in their own language.

How we research

Our content is built from a combination of official sources — the Rwanda Development Board and African Parks — verified operator listings, published conservation reporting and traveller reviews. Where a figure changes frequently, such as park fees, we present it as an indicative range and tell you to check the official rate.

We do not claim to have visited every lodge or ridden in every vehicle. Where we make a recommendation, it is based on stated inclusions, verified review records and value analysis, and we say so plainly rather than dressing it up as first-hand experience.

How we make money

This site is free to use and carries no display advertising. We are an affiliate partner of GetYourGuide, which means that if you book an experience through one of our links, we receive a small commission from GetYourGuide at no extra cost to you. We also link to Trip.com for accommodation on the same basis.

That commission is what pays for the research, the translation into nine languages and the hosting. It does not change the price you pay, and it does not determine our rankings — several of the tours we rate most highly are not the ones that pay us best.

Our editorial commitment
  • We rank on inclusions, reviews and value — never on commission rate.
  • We say when a tour is expensive for what it offers.
  • We never present affiliate links as anything other than what they are.
  • We correct errors as soon as they are pointed out to us.

What we are not

  • We are not affiliated with the Rwanda Development Board, African Parks or any tour operator.
  • We do not sell tours, take bookings or handle payments — every booking is made directly with GetYourGuide or the accommodation provider.
  • We cannot amend, cancel or refund a booking. For that you need to contact GetYourGuide or your provider directly.

If you spot something out of date, or you have just come back and think we have got something wrong, please tell us. Reader corrections are the fastest way this guide improves.
