We think you should know how a website that gives away detailed travel advice for free pays for itself. In our case, the answer is affiliate commission — and we would rather explain it clearly than bury it in a footer.
The short version
- We are an affiliate partner of GetYourGuide and link to Trip.com for accommodation.
- If you book through one of our links, we receive a small commission from the platform.
- You pay exactly the same price as you would going direct — commission comes out of the platform’s margin, not your wallet.
- Commission rates do not influence our rankings, and we say so on every page where we rank anything.
How affiliate links work
When you click a tour link on this site, a partner identifier travels with you to GetYourGuide. If you then make a booking, GetYourGuide records that it originated here and pays us a percentage of its own commission on that sale. The same principle applies to accommodation links to Trip.com.
We never see your name, your card details or your booking. What we receive is an anonymous, aggregated report showing that a booking was made.
How we keep recommendations honest
The obvious risk with affiliate publishing is that the highest-paying product gets recommended regardless of quality. We guard against that in a few concrete ways.
- We rank on inclusions, verified review scores and value per hour in the park — criteria we publish openly on our rankings page.
- We say when a tour is expensive for what it offers, even when we would earn more from it.
- We recommend free and non-commissionable options, such as self-drive and the public campsites, where they are genuinely the better choice.
- We disclose the affiliate relationship on every page that contains affiliate links, not just in the footer.
Prices and availability
Prices shown on this site are indicative starting prices captured when we last reviewed a listing. They are not live, they can change without notice, and they may vary by date, group size, season and the currency you are shown.
The price on GetYourGuide or Trip.com at the moment you book is the only one that counts. We link out for exactly that reason.
Independence
We are not owned by, affiliated with or paid by any tour operator, lodge, airline, tourism board or park authority. We have no commercial relationship with the Rwanda Development Board or African Parks. Nobody pays us to be included on this site, and no operator has any say over what we publish about them.
If you find this guide useful, booking through our links is the simplest way to support it — and it costs you nothing extra. If you would rather not, that is entirely fine: everything on this site is free to read either way.
